Leadership Essentials for New Managers

The real skills you need to manage effectively (and were probably never taught)

The skills that made you a high-performing individual contributor won’t make you a great manager — and relying on them too long will hold you (and your team) back. New managers are expected to just figure it out: manage former peers, scale themselves without losing visibility, build trust, handle difficult conversations, and balance real work with people leadership — all without training or a playbook.

This course gives you the must-have manager skills you were never taught.

You’ll learn how to shift from doer to leader, set clear expectations without micromanaging, build trust and accountability on your team, and navigate tough conversations with confidence. We’ll cover the systems, mechanisms, and habits that help you stay close to the work without doing the work yourself.

This is a two-day intensive. You’ll leave with practical frameworks, checklists, and a clear manager playbook you can use immediately — plus the confidence that you’re leading your team the right way. We'll get much of work done in the session itself so you can hit the ground running on Monday. And you'll have access to 1:1 coaching and peer circles to continue building your toolkit (and commiseration community!).

What to expect

• Two day intensive (Sat+Sun 12:30-5:30pm EST)

• Perspectives from tenured managers and leaders

• Toolkits and frameworks to take back and implement

• Time to action the tactics in the session itself

• 1:1 coaching session with Myra

• Four weeks of peer mentor circles
